Embrace the autumn
Autumn is upon us as we can look back on a summer full of wonderful memories.

Even though the days are growing shorter and the air cooler, there are still plenty of opportunities to pamper yourself with experiences at d’Angleterre and throughout Copenhagen.

We have gathered here some of what is currently on offer and wish everyone a lovely autumn.
Christmas lighting of the d’Angleterre
For many in Copenhagen, the lighting of the entire façade of d’Angleterre marks the beginning of the Christmas season. This year’s shimmering new façade decorations are inspired by The White Kingdom of King Winter. Part of a decades-long tradition, the lights of d’Angleterre will create a glamorous holiday atmosphere on and around Kongens Nytorv, delighting Copenhageners and guests from near and far.
This year’s theme is also a special tribute – a tribute to something beautiful yet delicate. The subject of this year’s tribute will remain a secret until 5pm on Friday 20th November! And, as is customary, the Band of the Royal Life Guards, in full-dress uniform, will accompany the unveiling.
We look forward to sharing this event with all who love the joy and enchantment of the holiday season. Join us as the façade of d’Angleterre illuminates Copenhagen’s winter darkness.
Caviar experience
On 8th October, head chef Christian Gadient and his team will be visiting Michelin-starred restaurant Frederikshøj in Aarhus to serve a unique 14-course gourmet menu, where both he and Wassim Hallal will take turns showing why caviar is known as the finest delicacy found in nature.
Leading Danish caviar importer Jacob Rossini from Rossini Caviar will again be helping the star chefs with a veritable cornucopia of caviars as well as sharing some of the secrets of this culinary delight.
Naturally, the caviar dinner will be accompanied by some of the best champagnes in the world, which have been specially selected to accent the evening’s menu.
This exclusive dinner takes place on Thursday, 8th October at 6:30pm. The price is DKK 3,750 per person. Note that there are a limited number of places available.
Contact Frederikshøj at info@frederikshoj.com or on +45 86 14 22 80 for booking.

Marchal chef finalist in Game Dish of the Year
Our very own chef, Michel Kristensen, from Marchal has been nominated as a finalist in the Game Dish of the Year 2015 competition.
This year, a record-breaking number of applicants vied to join the fine company, and Michel was selected as one of six finalists for his submission of breast of pigeon, rehydrated potatoes, wild mushrooms and marrow sauce.
The finalists will be competing to create the best dish from fresh game meat caught by Danish hunters when the competition takes place on 18th October in Forum at Intercomp’s Food, Home and Design Fair. The six participating chefs will each be given a mystery box with plenty of game meat and asked to improvise a starter and a main course.
New Year's 2015
In keeping with tradition, this year we will again be hosting a lavish New Year’s Eve Gala
in our beautiful surroundings here at the d’Angleterre.
This year, Ole Kibsgaard, Bobo Moreno & band and others will accompany us merrily into the new year.

d'Angleterre Creations
This autumn sees the release of the beautiful book d’Angleterre – creations, where Creative Director Alan Evensen paints a contemporary portrait of The White Lady on Kongens Nytorv. d’Angleterre’s decorations change with the seasons, and the book follows the hotel over the course of a year – from the dazzling New Year decorations through winter, spring, summer and autumn to the elegant decorations of the Christmas season. The book’s author and photographer has followed Alan Evensen through thick and thin, from early-morning visits to the flower market to the some of the biggest events of the year, including H.R.H. Queen Margrethe II’s 75th birthday and the hotel’s own 260th anniversary.
d’Angleterre – creations is full of colourful and magnificent photographs of flowers and décor accompanied by a beautiful presentation of the history of d’Angleterre from the 1700s to today. The book is available in both Danish and English for people of all nationalities with an interest in the hotel and the fascinating floral arrangements that decorate the grand establishment all year round. The book will be released on 26th October and will be available in bookshops, Arnold Busck stores and Magasin department stores all over Denmark, as well as at saxo.com.
The concierge recommends
Even though the days are growing colder and shorter, there is still plenty to see and do in Copenhagen in autumn. Our concierge team has compiled a little list of autumn recommendations:

We strongly recommend a visit to Northern Europe’s largest aquarium, the National Aquarium of Denmark, Den Blå Planet, which is a unique experience for children and adults. At the aquarium you are surrounded by water on all sides, creating a fantastic under-the-sea sensation.

Combined with a stay at d’Angleterre, we can arrange attractive admission prices as well as private, behind-the-scenes tours of the aquarium.
A visit to Tivoli between 9th October and 1st November is also a must. During this period, Tivoli is dressed up for Halloween with thousands of pumpkins, beautiful lights and decorations in autumn colours. Enjoy an afternoon in the old garden filled with frightening fun.

The Royal Danish Theatre has opened its doors to a new season filled with premières. The concierge team is available for recommendations and assistance with tickets combined with a stay at d’Angleterre.
